A large delegation with a brass band toured Batavia and nearby towns Monday night to advertise the Williamsburg Fourth of July celebration. More than fifty vehicles carried families to join a daylong program from 10:30 a.m. to midnight featuring a big parade at 10:30 a.m. Public urged to spend the holiday in Williamsburg.

Burglary suspects arrested after Neville house boat search
Sheriff Auxier and Deputies Brooks and Abbott arrested Walter Hendrixson 35 and Ed Johnson 45 at Neville about midnight on burglary charges. Hendrixson confessed implicating Johnson. Police recovered missing articles from Hendrixson's house boat above Neville. Johnson exchanged shots with a citizen, was handcuffed, and both men were bound over to the grand jury.
