Rhodes Leads Clermont County Town Meeting in Batavia

Gov. James A. Rhodes presided over a town meeting in Batavia to address Clermont County concerns from road slides to a state lodge. Nearly 100 residents and cabinet members discussed Bethel industrial financing and bridge funds, welfare work, and a Stonelick Lake land dispute with Mrs. Leonard Burger.

Grand Jury Indicts 11 In Clermont County

The Clermont County Grand Jury indicted 11 people four on multiple charges and urged lighting upgrades in the Common Pleas Courtroom of Judge Louis J. Schwartz. Indictments include aggravated arson, theft, forgery, drug trafficking, aggravated robbery, burglary, receiving stolen property and aggravated vehicular homicide.

Woodland Mound Park Named In Two-County Area

Hamilton County Park District board designates the Anderson Township area park as Woodland Mound Park. The naming honors Woodland Indians linked to the Eight Mile Valley corridor while noting widespread citizen input in a months long process.

Moscow river erosion project clears first hearing stage

The Moscow erosion control project in Clermont County cleared a public hearing with two comments, none opposing. The Corps of Engineers, EPA, and local officials outlined no land impact and a non worsening turbidity plan, with four test sections using riprap and plantings along 350 feet to 670 cubic yards of material.

Bids Sought for Milford erosion control project

Milford Village Council invites sealed bids to supply about 40 000 yards of fill for repairing Mound Street alley erosion. The Army Corps of Engineers plans erosion control on the Little Miami River eastern bank this summer with sections in Milford and Moscow Ohio. Proposals must detail location quantity and availability and be delivered by noon June 27.

Facelift proposed for Batavia Main Street project

Batavia moves toward renovating its Main Street with a new group Main Street Inc. A public meeting showcased slides of potential storefront alterations and paint schemes. The Batavia Businessmen’s Association donated 500 toward the effort, with brochures naming involved people, architects, tradespeople, and loan or discount providers.
