Instant death by live wire at Mederia station
Otto Smith, son of John Smith, was instantly killed last Monday at the Swing traction line in Mederia station while helping carry a wire. He slipped and grasped a live conductor, a current passing through him. Three men removed him from the wire and the remains were sent to the city for an inquest before burial at home Monday night.

Fire Destroys Perintown Barn in Lightning Strike
Last Saturday during the storm lightning struck John Friend’s barn at Perintown. The building and its feed, implements, and a horse were consumed by flames before rescue efforts could save them. Insurance unknown as officials note the loss.
