Bethel-Tate Arts Council Festival With Cincinnati Pops

The Bethel-Tate Arts Council presents a Bethel festival featuring the Cincinnati Symphony Pops Orchestra at the Ebon C. Hills School outdoor amphitheatre on SR 232. Events run Friday 8 p.m. and Saturday starting noon with Peanut Butter Theatre. Cincinnati Ballet joins Saturday at 8 p.m. All events free except the Ox Roast. prices listed as 3.25 for adults and 2.25 for children.

Run Against Cancer Saturday at East Fork State Park

The Clermont County American Cancer Society unit holds its second annual Run Against Cancer this Saturday at 10 a.m. at East Fork State Park. Two races 10,000 meters and one mile fitness run feature thirteen age groups for men and women with trophies for each age group and ribbons for second and third in the 10,000 meter. Registration is 5 dollars for the 10,000 meter and 1 dollar for the one mile. T-shirts go to preregistered 10,000 meter runners.

Batavia officials will hold a June 25 1980 hearing at 10 a.m. in the third floor conference room of 76 S Riverside Dr Batavia on revenue sharing funds estimated at 493 119. Past allocations funded grants to service agencies recreation equipment and regional planning. A card party at St Philomena Church Stonelick Williams Corner Sunday June 24 begins 8 p.m. with art awards and refreshments.

County faces delay on half percent sales tax referendum

The County Board of Elections reported insufficient signatures for the additional one half percent sales tax referendum. About 2639 signatures were collected but later deemed inadequate after review by election board personnel and the county auditor. The vote was delayed, with signatures to be checked against registration cards, while organizers dispute notification and legality.

Weavers raise roses on historic farm

Fran Schwiermant profiles Floyd and Virginia Weaver who began rose growing after their 1965 marriage. Their 14 years of gardening show a range of colors and varieties. They warn roses demand constant care, spraying, and foliage to survive winter. They do it for love, not shows. Virginia also taught at Amelia Elementary. John Weaver, a Revolutionary War soldier, was granted the land after muster.
