Two Slot Machine Owners Plead Guilty and Fines Imposed

affidavits filed in Common Pleas Court list six owners facing charges for keeping gambling devices. Dwight Louden and Nile Hayes pled or awaiting arraignment. Richard Stillmaker pled guilty paying 100 and costs. Charles Kanter pled guilty with 100 fine. remaining owners face pending affidavits. Proceedings stem from a raid by Sheriff G G Auxier on June 1.

Clermont Countians Give $700 for War Sufferers

Clermont Countians contributed about $700 to the Red Cross Relief Fund for war sufferers in Europe. Rev. Vernon Martin, chairman, said the total trails the $5,000 quota but shows strong county support. The drive continues through June with Red Cross calls for more aid and local groups preparing to sew and knit garments from supplied materials.

Deputy County Treasurer James M Fitzpatrick left Tuesday for Youngstown Ohio to attend the annual conference of Past Grands of the I C C F to be held Tuesday through Thursday. It marks his twenty second consecutive year at the conclave and he is a past Grand Master of the I O O F of Ohio. He also looks forward to the Wednesday night banquet of Past Grand Masters.

Mrs. Alfred R. Marsh of Cincinnati organized a quiet surprise 90th birthday party for her uncle Geo Marriott. The Boys Bossy Club of Mt. Carmel Glen Este met June 4 at Finley Jacobs home for a short business session and a soil conservation film. Three Injured In Route 7 Auto Crash Near Chile

A Monday crash on Route 7 two miles west of Chile injured three people, including Mrs. J. E. Boston 82 Mercer Street Cincinnati. The injured were taken to Bethel Hospital. driver Carlos Fugett and two Felicity men suffered minor injuries. Two hogs died and the rest fled, later rounded up by farmers.

Kennedy pleads guilty in DWI case. five days fine and license suspension

Elmer Kennedy changed his plea to guilty just before trial, receiving five days in jail, a $100 fin e and costs, and a one year license suspension. Separately Anna Callahan’s $10,000 wrongful death suit against William Pribble Trucking Co. Bethel was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.

Batavia Considers Uniformed Traffic Patrol for Main Street Opening

Batavia Village Council will discuss hiring a uniformed motorized traffic officer at its next regular session. The officer would enforce traffic laws, require a self-supplied uniform and motorcycle, and be paid 1500 dollars yearly. The move follows a planned opening of Batavia's new main street and aims to curb driving hazards. The Rotary Club supports the measure, and officials deny plans for a speed trap. It is expected Frank Perry may be the appointee.

Election of Paul Riffle of Mulberry Ohio to the post of student council president for the coming year was announced today at the University of Cincinnati. Riffle, son of Rev Eugene Riffle, is a 1934 Milford High School graduate and senior in the Law College. He previously attended Ohio Wesleyan University and earned a BA in 1938.

The marriage of Sarah Jane Spencer and Richard Patton Jr. took place on June 15 at Batavia Methodist Church with Rev. C. R. Spangler officiating.
