The Withamsville St Thomas More Church hosts a summer festival on Saturday and Sunday July 13 under a big top tent at SR 125 rain or shine. Brats hot dogs and home cooked chicken dinners served noon to 7 pm. Adults priced at 3 dollars and children under 12 at 1.75. Games beer garden and children's rides with one adult ride. Special feature on Sunday includes activities for all ages.
Vacation Bible School runs June 23 to 29 at West Clermont Baptist Fellowship 719 Ohio Pike Williamsville with Bible study crafts and games for all ages from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Rob Reider concert closes the week on Sunday June 29 at 7 p.m. Public invited.
James N. Danner has tendered his resignation as Superintendent of Felicity Franklin Local Schools. The Felicity Franklin Board of Education accepted the resignation to take effect July 31 with no replacement named. Danner will assist his successor in early October and plans to retire after 20 years with the district. Union Township library hosts open house June 18 to celebrate Clermont County Public Library’s 25th birthday.
Chamber of Commerce push last week urged a new motel tax to fund a county Visitor's Bureau with shared facilities. Officials say funds could aid roads and tourism attractions, while some oppose the tax as a burden on residents and businesses.
Clermont County officials clash over travel to the 1980 National Association of Counties meeting in Nevada. Commissioner Wiesenhahn blasts federal money use, saying costs of $1,216 to $1,495 per person for air fare and hotel come from U S taxpayers. Batavia Schools receive 2,283,937 and Batavia Township 345,556, with Clermont County general fund gain of 375,927. Great Oaks Vocational School District adds 120,580. Officials note funds will support road, cemetery work, and township hall needs as new facilities are planned.
