A 12 year old Cincinnati youth boarded at a neighbor's, left Sunday night in stocking feet with overalls and shirt, walked across country to Gayland Weaver's on the East Fork above Batavia, until his father found him Tuesday. Sheriff Roberts aided in recapture and he received a lecture for smoking. Arrangements for Friday evening Batavia band concerts in June July and August are under way. The first concert will be Friday June 20 with Batavia High School Band opening and the Batavia Concert Band following. A Legion subscription drives funds as concerts rely on community support. Oil Station Fire at Batavia Causes Alarm
The Batavia siren warned of a Friday night blaze at the Rauscher Bros oil station. Keeper Wright Watson had just finished pumping gas when a pump room explosion 60 feet away shattered windows. No one injured. Firemen quickly extinguished the small fire after the old engine and hose burst and roof holes were cut for water.

Girders Break Delay Traffic on Williamsburg Bridge
Girders broke Saturday night supporting the covered bridge at Main street Williamsburg causing traffic delay. State and county road crews in charge with rapid repairs. Newt Scarce of Batavia suffered a paralytic stroke Monday and died Friday morning in his 72nd year. He was described as industrious, honest and upright. Funeral from the Colored M. E. church Saturday at 2 p.m., Mohawk Masonic lodge in charge. A wife and several children survive.

The grand jury met Thursday morning with 45 witnesses across seven cases. Juror Sam Ludlow fell ill causing a brief delay. proceedings resumed Monday. Indictments include manslaughter Frank Dugan and larceny for Kate McAfee and John Barrachman. Barrachman pled guilty, fined 200 dollars and imprisoned for one month. jail sentence reduced by 176 dollars.
