Citizens of Goshen plan a Fourth of July event at Shiloh camp ground under Kilpatrick G A R post. grounds open early with exercises beginning at 10 a m including Declaration reading recitations music vocal solos and duets and talks by Captain Melville Hayes and Reverend Joseph Hawkins. Evening lawn fete promises enjoyment with visitors advised to bring baskets.
George Hatfield and his bride return to Warsaw to an old fashioned tin pan serenade led by young boys then larger youths. Hatfield kept the fort until midnight before peace returned to the town. A young Clermont couple Fred Swing age 2 and Nellie Armstrong age twenty were wed in Lagrange Kentucky on Monday in a clandestine ceremony. Swing is the third son of Judge Peter F Swing of the circuit court living at Terrace Park and Armstrong is the daughter of George W Armstrong a Milford farmer. Despite parental objections due to youth the couple married, with friends to offer best wishes.
The Georgetown News reports a quail strike on a Bethel Journal editor as he drove from Bethel. The quail killed itself by hitting the horse, causing a frantic dash before the editor could continue. The tale is dismissed as implausible and the paper urged to craft a believable piece.

Learner B Leeds died at his parents home in Georgetown on Sunday night June 8 102 age 81. He trained in his father Thomas J Leeds printing office and was a skilled worker. His illness was brief and his death sudden. He was buried last Wednesday as brethren of the craft mourn his loss.

Benjamin F. Tedrow died at his home near Lucy Run on Thursday afternoon from old age. He was a county pioneer who had reached his eightieth year. Funeral services were held Sunday and he was buried in Clermont Chapel cemetery. Grace Mary Griffin married Argyle Alvin Clark at Spencer Indiana last week. Grace is daughter of George A. Grien formerly of this place. Argyle works in jewelry quarries in Spencer.
The Sardinia branch of the C P W railroad running between Sardinia and Hillsboro was sold last week to Norfolk and Western interests. The branch will be operated by the Pennsylvania system.

Papers, music and discussions highlighted the day as officers were elected for 1902 and Amelia Club joined the federation. Mr Butler and young Mr Burn visited Batavia during the week.
