Judge Loven comments on Bissantz retrial request
Judge Castle noted that Judge Rodney M. Loven tied a request for a new trial made by Bissantz's attorney James N. Perry on sentencing day June 6. If retrial occurs, there is no appeal. Castle, elected last November to a two year term on the 12th District Court of Appeals in Middletown, sits in the district created in August 1980. Visiting Judge Love suspended a one to ten year prison term and fined Bissantz 8500 plus court costs. A jury found Bissantz guilty April 29 of soliciting a bribe from county officials by offering to trade his favorable vote on a salary increase in exchange for a county job for himself when he left office.
