Jackson township mulls own fire department soon
Jackson Township may form its own fire department after trustees vote to pursue creation. A June 3 resolution aims to plan and prepare gear and personnel while under current contracts with Wayne Owensville and Fayetteville. A public meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. June 25 at Marathon Methodist Church to discuss the project and levy plans.

Stonelick State Park Offers Broad Summer Activities
Officials describe 1058 acre Stonelick State Park on Ohio 727 west of Ohio 133 as a full service recreation area. Park manager Robert Vice notes 200 acres of water, beaches and grills for picnics plus seven miles of hiking trails and bike routes. Boat rentals include paddle boats four dollars fifty cents for one hour and three fifty each additional hour. Boat dock director Howard Grant says rowboats and canoes are rented by the hour or day. Lifeguards are on duty 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Campers can choose 152 Class A sites with electricity water showers and laundry for seven dollars a night, plus four fully equipped rent a tent sites at fourteen dollars a night by reservation.
