Half of about 90 wells at the CECOS International landfill on Aber Road have been evaluated. OEPA inspector Bill Strachen said it will be months before a clear picture emerges of subsurface conditions. Germans may open new plant in Clermont County
Clermont County commissioners last week nudged an incentive toward Krauss Maffei Bavaria to secure a 350000 grant under the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program for heavy equipment for a new Ohio plant. MEF bid protest continues as work starts despite case
County commissioners schedule a June 14 hearing on Fred A. Nemann Co. protest of the Middle East Fork sewer bid award. To avoid delaying construction the disputed contract was excluded from bids May 17. Nemann left bidder at 1,808,544 while Schweitzer Construction Co. won at 1,990,410. Nemann failed to list MBE and WBE subcontractor goals, potentially raising price. If unhappy, Nemann may appeal to USEPA within 10 days. EPA has 15 days to decide. Renovation of the Amelia Batavia plant will take 18 months and sewer work 12.
