College students form open discussion group on current events
Westhausen College students and staff, led by history professor Gary Osthausen, launched an open forum to discuss events from the Soviet nuclear plant disaster to the economy and Star Wars proposals. Eleven to twelve participants meet Wednesdays at 1 a.m., with regulars including Joyce Castellini and Judy Hutchison, who seek intellectual stimulation and real-world insight. If interest grows, organizers may open the group to the public.

No Sympathy for Rock and Roll in Late Century Voice
A speaker claims some Americans in the late 20th century showed no sympathy for rock and roll, dismissing its lasting influence. He hopes the craze fades, declines by neglect, malnutrition, or suffocation, and says there is no mourning for its passing.
