Election machinery gears up for June 8 Clermont polls
Clermont County Board of Elections in Batavia readies for the June 8 election with 21 000 expected voters. Polls open 6 30 a m to 7 30 p m across 134 precincts. National Bicentennial Wagon Train Parade Draws 50000 in New Richmond
About 50,000 people crowded New Richmond to view the National Bicentennial Wagon Train parade and related booths along Front Street facing the Ohio River. Clermont County Bicentennial Coordinator Dan Strong called it the largest wagon train celebration in the country. Police turned away motorists on S R 52 exits due to the vast crowd. Strong credited media cooperation and local patriotism for the event’s success, adding the crowd caused little trouble aside from one fist fight.
