Bicycle Rider Struck by Car Near Afton in Williamsburg
Eight year old Mackey Sullivan son of Mr and Mrs John L Sullivan of Williamsburg was riding a bicycle on Route 74 near Afton when hit by a car driven by Bernard OC Heffner of Williamsburg. He suffered a leg injury, was taken to Our mont by ambulance from Moore funeral home, and deputy sheriff Charles McNutt investigated noting the boy became confused as the auto approached.

Two Clermont Countians narrowly escape Bennington blast
Two local sailors escaped serious injury when the aircraft carrier Bennington was rocked by two explosions off Rhode Island. Airman Franz Ott of New Richmond and Seaman George Bower of Amelia reported safety, while GM2 Glenn Miller, from Batavia, had just transferred from Cuba and narrowly avoided danger. Ott, aboard since May 17, lost some possessions. Bower lost gear but remained safe. Miller had been moved from Cuba ten days earlier and was on leave.

School Looted at Withamsville Tabasco School
At Withamsville Ohio the fourth burglary in 18 months hit the school after midnight Sunday entry gained via side window. Thieves stole seven chisels two hammers two stopwatches and up to five dollars cash causing about 100 in damage to trophy desk filing cabinet and cafeteria door. A 32 caliber bullet was fired through the cafeteria door but no money was taken from the cash register. Principal Chalmers C Ratliff reported the incident and noted a prior attempt about 10 days earlier.

Clermont County Library Board seeks 1955 budget funds
The Clermont County Library Board asks the Budget Commission to set aside 38640 from intangible tax funds for county library service, plus 1500 state aid and 500 from other sources. They request 6000 for a bookmobile 18400 for 8000 volumes and 3800 for a librarian, with remaining funds for insurance utilities and storage. If rejected they will appeal to the state Tax Board.
