At a Batavia Business Men's Club dinner P F Jamieson of the First National Bank announced a new large chime clock system for the bank building. Made by O B McClintock Co of Minneapolis the monument will feature a seven by two and a half foot bronze and art glass enclosure with two foot dials, night illumination, and Westminster chimes every quarter hour from 7 am to 10 pm.

Decoration Day Observance in Batavia Honors Fallen Heroes
Citizens organized by the American Legion and veterans from Batavia marked Decoration Day with a well planned program. Major Smith of Cincinnati gave a cemetery address while services at the bridge honored sailors lost at sea. Flowers showered the waters, a parade formed by town officials and veterans, graves decorated, and all Civil War and World War I soldiers remembered.

Auto Crash in Batavia Blocks Fire Plug Repair
On a busy Batavia morning a collision at Dennison's corner involved Geo Wolf and a Milford Ford. Wolf attempted a turn onto Second Street and struck the other car, knocking the Ford into a fire plug, breaking it. Town funds near 100 dollars were spent to replace the plug and restore service within hours. O H Ralph Miller and Miss Orphia Simmerman wed in Batavia June 1 with Rev Burdeau officiating in a ring ceremony.

Town Decorated for Decoration Day Mania
Batavia stood among the best decorated towns in the county for Decoration Day with most homes and businesses flying flags on staffs at the curb. The American Legion boys sold the flags, which were to be brought in at sundown, while permanent holders of gas pipe were embedded in cement. The Legion still has several flags on hand.

Ida Florella Smith wife of George P. Smith died May 16 1925 after nearly a decade of sugar diabetes. Born near Eastwood Ohio December 31 1861 she united with M E church in Taylors Chapel later transferring to Williamsburg.
