The Clermont County Education Assn pays tribute to four retiring educators. Hazel Miller leaves after 45 years, Ava Ross retires after 26 years, Inez Schnell departs after 24 years in Goshen schools, and Marie Henke ends a 43 year career at Amelia High School.

Conservancy District backs East Fork and Caesar Creek projects

The Little Miami River Conservancy District, a state subdivision, seeks flood control, recreation and water management across Clinton Greene Warren Clermont and eastern Hamilton counties. Three directors oversee a plan approved by Conservancy Court with authority to hire staff and fund construction upon benefit-cost appraisal.

Covered Bridge to Yield to Road Project in Clermont County

The historic 170 foot covered bridge over the East Fork of the Little Miami River between Williamsburg and Marathon will be replaced by the Ohio Department of Highways. A detour will be required during construction. a new bridge will be built on the site.

Ogletree Signs with Cincinnati Star Athlete Duo

Don Ogletree outstanding Batavia High School athlete and son of Mr and Mrs Clarence Ogletree signed a letter of intent with the University of Cincinnati for the fall term. He received the most outstanding athlete award at commencement Sunday in a presentation by Coach Bob Clousson. He has lettered in baseball for three years and holds the 440 yard dash record in the Cincinnati District.

June 17 Expense Filing Deadline for Candidates

Secretary of State Ted W. Brown warns candidates and committees from the May Primaries that 4 p.m. June 17 is the filing deadline for receipts and expenditures. Filings go to Batavia for county offices, to county boards of elections for district offices, with Columbus for congressional candidates and to the Secretary of State for federal nominating matters. A nonfiling candidate faces disqualification for five to seven years.

CG&E Expands Bi Monthly Meter Reading to Clermont Area

Cincinnati Gas & Electric announces a new bi monthly meter reading schedule expanding to Batavia Loveland Milford New Richmond Moscow Ne ville Newtonsville Felicity Amelia and Chile and surrounding areas effective July 1 The plan extends a program already in Middletown where 13 070 customers were affected Less than 0 5 percent questioned the method CG&E says the change will save costs and keep rates low Readings will occur every two months with estimated bills in between and credits applied to the next bill No meter readers will be discharged and displaced staff will be reassigned

Eight Batavia Scholars Place High in District Tests

Batavia High School students excel in the final District State Scholar ship Test taken May 7 at Loveland. In Division I, with enrollees of 399 or fewer, Patricia McFaddin leads chemistry in 11th grade, while Betsy Nichols and Cindy Ziegenhardt top districts in Latin I and Latin 0 respectively under Mrs Howland.

Clermont Realtors Warn Housing Plan Dangerous

Ernest C. Friedrich of the Clermont County Board of Realtors urged lawmakers to oppose a federal housing proposal he says would strip owners of the right to choose buyers or renters. He argued the plan undermines freedom of contract, urges voluntary community education, and cites a California MLS survey showing minimal racial restrictions in listings. He encouraged owners to contact their representatives with their views.

Grant Trail Camporee Weekend Scout event near Fayetteville

Batavia Wins Ohio Class A Track Title

Batavia High School captured its first State Class A track and field championship in Columbus. Dave Smith and Don Ogletree contributed 14 points across three events with Smith taking the 100 yard dash in 10.1 seconds and placing second in the 220 yard dash at 22.8 seconds while Ogletree finished second in the 440 yard dash with a 50.7 second performance. Coach Robert Clousson, departing for Fairfield, was named Class A Track Coach of the Year by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

New Head Coach Signed at Northeastern High

Billy Hyder leaves Clermont Northeastern after eight years to take Northeastern High School athletic director and health and physical education chair duties. Robert Weisenhahn succeeds him as head basketball coach after signing a contract. He is a 1961 University of Cincinnati NCAA champion and former Royals player who has coached at LaSalle and Amelia high schools.
