The FBI will run a police training school in Batavia at the courthouse annex from August 25 to 29. Attendance is limited to paid officers. Instructors include Lincoln J. Stokes and Winthrop A. Young among others, with pre‑school briefing arranged by Chief Ward and Prosecuting Attorney Jones.
A public hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. October 2 in the county commissioners office on a petition to annex 1220 acres to the current 90 acres forming the village of Mostow. A 100 by 200 foot Industrial Tent is planned by two groups of businessmen to showcase Clermont County industries. The tent will be set near the fairgrounds grandstand with an attractive landscaped entryway.
A space metal expert nicknamed Carmel A and former Clermont County resident was killed early Monday in a car train collision at the Delta Union Pacific crossing in front of the Brush Veryllium Co plant. Robert L. Madioz, 40, Batavia High School graduate and former Mt. Carmel resident, died at the scene. he was plant manager at Brush Veryllium Co. and held an additional title.
