The 34th Regiment C V I Piatt Zouaves celebrated the 25th muster anniversary with a grand musical literary feast and banquet at Washington Platform Cincinnati. About 200 attended with wives and children, including prominent citizens. Mayor Smith spoke, followed by Short and Coffey, with recitations songs and a reel lasting into morning. Plans include chartering the side wheel steamer St Lawrence for a three day regimental entertainment at $2 daily, capacity 250.

Survivors from the 2d Ohio Volunteer Infantry meet at Goshen September 16 and 17. The 89th veterans gather at Batavia September 22, near the Chicamauga battlefield anniversary. The 59th reunion is planned for Felicity on the last Saturday in September. Ex-Prisoners join Kenton on August 4 and 5 for a well attended, respectful reunion.

Tobacco market shows active demand and rising prices
The tobacco market remained unusually active last week with ample leaf, steady demand for all grades, and an advance of 1 cent over prior week for clean heavy red leaf. Brown county led sales with 118 lots, followed by Pendleton Mason Owen and Blue Grass. Total offerings reached 1620 birds, up from 1245 last week, amidst ongoing market optimism.

Civil judgments totaling money due were rendered with average per judgment noted. Coronors inquests held numbered 11 with causes including death by own action homicide and accident.
