Williamsburg Chautauqua Opens with Five Day Program

The Williamsburg Chautauqua committee hires Cort-Alber Chautauqua Company for a five day event starting Wednesday August 10 through Sunday 14 with sessions daily packed with lectures and concerts. Featured speakers include Dr Arthur D Carpenter Robert C MacAuley Mrs D Pirie Beyea Dr Mattison Wilbur Chase and Charles C Gorst plus music by The Old Fashioned Girls Temple Entertainers and Wagnerian Concert Quintet. Season tickets are 2.20 for adults 1.10 for children war tax included. Afternoon programs begin 2 30 and evening shows 8 unless noted.

Entertains Chapter Honoring Coombs at Perin Home

Amelia Chapter No entertainment held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Perin on Thursday evening July 21 in honor of Mr. and Mrs. A N Coombs. Big Brown and Clermont County Outing at Cincinnati Zoo

A Saturday event on August 6 invites Brown and Clermont county natives to Cincinnati Zoo. M G Swope, Wm Crone and Allen Rondebush organized the gathering with new animals, a Cincinnati Summer Orchestra concert, Punch and Judy shows, and an ice skating performance at 8 pm. Large crowds expected as former residents reconnect.

Pretty wedding at East Norwood home honors Norma Miller

Miss Norma Miller of Williamsburg wed John M. Davis proprietor of the Mecca studio Dayton on Sunday July 17 at 1 30 PM. The bride wore white georgette and carried Columbia roses. Her sister Velma Miller was bridesmaid in pink satin with pink carnations. After the reception the couple left for their Dayton home amid rice showers and good wishes.

Married in Batavia Unites Clifford G Lawrence and Mildred C Steinway

The ceremony at Rev E Burdsall s Batavia home joined Clifford G Lawrence and Mildred C Steinway on July 20 1921. Attendants were the bride s father and mother Harry Steinway wife and daughter Evelyn John Hacdverfar and Florence Alderreden. The Methodist Episcopal service featured bridal roses and a gold ring, followed by a farewell shower and plans to visit Milford once the new home is ready.

Felicity man pleads guilty in whiskey case

H B Myers of Felicity pleaded guilty before Mayor Ross Friday to giving a drink of whiskey to a man. He was fined $300 with $200 remitted, $50 to the town treasury and $50 to the State. Lou Hoeffler and Schoenang remain jailed for failure to pay fines for operating stills.

Health League Organized in Clermont County

A meeting at Clermont County town hall established the Clermont County Health League to run Christmas rummage sales and cooperate with the county physician and nurse on disease prevention. Temporary chairmen were Lowell Roudebush and J Justioe with plans to elect permanent officers at Lake Allyne.

Recorder Report Shows 1921 Real Estate Totals

Recorder John W. Swing filed the annual report detailing deeds 785 covering 2,930 acres and 46 town lots with total consideration 200582. Leases total 27 entries, Mortgages on agricultural lands 455 acres valued at 957 and town lots 262 valued at 264495. Cancellation of mortgages on agricultural lands 444 entries cover 27,052 acres and 27,052 acres with large sums.

River Road Work Underway For Winter Travel Conditions

Teams and workmen resurface the river road near the Red Bridge above Batavia. County trucks and a gang repair near Felicity before resuming work toward the river to improve river road. Plenty of work to do everywhere.

Batavia Water Cleared as Safe After Health Board Tests

Tests on Batavia water during a dry spell were sent to the State Board of Health and returned OK. Officials expect weekly testing and a state pan visit last Friday confirmed the water is free of germs and safe for use.

Work on the Williamsburg to Mt Carmel pike starts this week with new equipment ready for use. Local and rural crews report strong help amid scarce crops and a bad season. Clermont county Institute notes urge 100% membership and certified teachers

The Felicity Ohio CC T I Institute runs August 22 to 26 with strong instruction and an appealing program. The next teachers examination is August 26 and 55 cents is required for normal certificates. County superintendents must report employed teachers by August 1. Clermont seeks six high school and six grade teachers and urges qualified applicants.

Mr and Mrs N B Heidl ebaugh Visit Relatives on Trip

Mr and Mrs N B Heidle baugh left Saturday for a visit with his mother in Vaughanville Putnam County. They will visit Xenia friends and stop in Dayton Delphus and Middleport before returning after about ten days. Putnam County is his old home.

Ice Cream Social Raises Eighty Dollars at MBH Lawn Event

The Friday night ice cream social on the Bhored lawn hosted by Mrs. Bly's Sunday school class drew a good crowd. Receipts totaled 80 dollars and attendees enjoyed a pleasant evening.

New County Officials Set To Take Seats

Officials elected last November will assume duties as Jess Jordan begins next Monday. Treasurer George Maxfield, Recorder and Surveyor Charles Miller follow as the Recorder's vacancy ends September 6. County Commissioners take office September 19, with the full list completing then.

Independent milk dealer pursues Cincinnati distribution hub

B P Roudebush formerly of Newtonsville now in Norwood visited Batavia to recruit milk producers for a proposed Cincinnati based distribution house. He aims to secure pledges of support and financing, starting small to grow with demand. He cited milk peddlers earning up to 62 dollars weekly with wages and commissions boosting prices for consumers rather than producers. Farmers would gain better prices through their own facility. Further reports promised.

Anderson Buys Paul Moore Farm in Clermont County

Langhorne T. Anderson of Point Au View Farms in Mayeville Ky acquired the 82 acre Paul Moore farm at Horse Shoe Bend on the East Fork of the Little Miami River in Elk Lick Clermont county. Anderson, a cattle horse breeder, notes the property was previously purchased by the late Judge P F Ewileg from Roy T Head, a tobacco company shareholder.

Lawn social to feature stereoptical lecture at M. B. church

Mr Arnold of the State Association will give a free stereoptical lecture on the M. B. church lawn next Monday evening. He will describe his trip to the World's convention at Tokio and show pictures of Japan. A collection will be taken.

Batavia Concert Band Donates Time at Camp for Crippled Children

The Batavia Concert Band performed a charity concert Thursday at Highland Park Rotations Camp for crippled children. Officers, nurses, and local residents greeted the band, which pledged to return each Thursday at 7 30 p m if weather permits and engagements allow.

Bergman resigns as Miami township trustee

Henry Bergman Jr the commission er elect from last fall's vote resigns his long held trustee post in Miami township. Chas Holland a farmer is appointed by Squire Applegate to fill the vacancy until the fall election. Bergman will take his seat as commissioner on the third Monday in September joining Hutson and Donley on a Republican board.

Poisonous Bite During Blackberry Picking

Charles Hartmets of Stonelick was bitten on the wrist by a poisonous insect while picking blackberries last Thursday. Immediate panic and arm swelling followed. medical aid arrived hours later. The bag found in his sleeve was sent to Normath to identify the insect and origin, with notes that a left side bite could have been fatal if help had delayed.
