Batavia village council approved a new electric rate structure to take effect within a month. Residential rates step down to 9c for the first 40 kilowatt hours, then 7c, 8c, and 8c for higher blocks. commercial rates run 7c for 40 kWh, 5c for 60 kWh, 4c for 100 kWh, and 3c over 200 kWh. Minimum monthly charge remains $1.00. Separate meters required for two-family buildings. Bills paid within five days incur no surcharge. late payments add 5 percent or at least ten cents. The contract lasts ten years, with prior franchise repealed though the old one expired July 8, 1937.
