Pigeon Proves Fast Return From Georgetown Release
Georgetown Gazette reports J C Sehreder sent a carrier pigeon to P M Offutt with weather dependent release. The bird headed south then east then northeast and flew 400 miles home in a single day. A prior release to Chillicothe and a Detroit to Buffalo flight of 225 miles in under four hours are noted.

Clock Stops and Watch Recovered From Peddler
In a family incident at Shadrach Dial’s home, a large dining room clock stopped amid heat and a watch vanished after a pack peddler visited. The peddler, who kept the ticking watch, was pursued and found with the watch and five dollars to reimburse Dial. Hartman criticized the man as a thief but the peddler was allowed to leave without arrest.
