Owensville Fair to Run August 16 19 at Owensville

The 90th Annual Owensville Fair and Agricultural Exhibition will be held August 16 to 19 in Owensville, with speed races on the half mile track and large purses. Lum n Abner Pine Ridge Band on August 17. a top horse show on August 18. Renfro Valley Barn Dance on August 19. Quilt and new Doll Show prizes highlight the schedule. Catalogs with premium lists and speed programs are now distributed through the county.

Massillon Mourns Mrs Humberger Founder of Struts and Frets

Mrs Marjorie Hulick Humberger longtime head of the Massillon Washington high School oral English department died after a long illness Monday. She organized the Struts and Frets dramatic club which offered self expression to hundreds of students and left a lasting cultural mark on the Massillon community.

Pomona Grange Sets Fixed Meeting Dates

Pomona Grange announces its schedule with meetings on the last Saturdays of January and July, and the third Saturdays in April and October. Segondollar Divorce Settlement Reached in Moscow Case

In Common Pleas Court Monday, Ethel won a divorce from Harry Segondollar of Moscow. The settlement awards Ethel the divorce and $3 monthly for each of their two minor children. Sam Sprague of Batavia served as counsel for the plaintiff.

Edenton Voting on 16000 Bond for School Fireproof Additions

Edenton Rural School District board adopted a resolution to issue a 16000 bond for fireproofing and alterations to the current building. If approved August 9, the debt would retire at 600 annually for 8 years, 700 annually for 8 years, and 800 annually for 7 years, plus a 38.7 mill outside levy for 28 years, as estimated by the County Auditor. The measure passed unanimously.

Pheasants Released in Clermont County

Two hundred pheasants shipped by the Ohio State Department of Conservation were released last week in protected territory in Clermont county. Game Warden Frank Stagg said the birds were eight weeks old and expected to be ready for hunting when the open season runs November 15 to 30.

Dr George L Hines Dies Aged 82 In Williamsburg

Dr George L Hines of Williamsburg died Friday July 15 at age 82 after 55 years as a physician. He was long considered leading surgeon in the county and son of Rev William E Hines a Methodist minister. Survived by son Harry L Hines postmaster of Williamsburg. Funeral from J Isaac Maham Funeral Home Monday July 18 at 2 pm. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge.

Burglary at A. C. Nash Drug Store in Batavia

Robbers entered through the boiler room under the post office Saturday night at A. C. Nash’s drug store in Batavia. Field Day and All Star Game Highlight Clermont County Events

The Clermont County Field Day and All-Star Game drew a large crowd at Williamsville with ten league teams participating. Pete Bruner of Owensville won the 100 Yard Dash, Roger Sellars of Moscow took the accurate throw, and the Locust Ridge team won the Shuttle Relay. The All-Star Game, Anstaett's Giants defeating Snider's Yanks 6 to 5 in 11 innings, featured a late rally aided by A Ginn's game winning single. Net receipts totaled 45.00 to be shared by the ten teams. Next Sunday's schedule lists Merchants vs Francis Garage, Owensville vs Perry A C, and Batavia Tigers vs Goshen.
