The County Fair at Oweneville runs August 14 to 17 with races, stock exhibitions, and a large grounds layout. Organizers report good footing for walks and a busy schedule including arena events, automobile parking, and a three day county reunion.
A major blaze in Winchester caused extensive damage to The Lett Co produce, Thomas Morgan general store, Coal Co, a frame residence, and an adjacent property. Fire erupted 5:30 PM from the Produce Co second floor, spread to others. home engine failed to respond, but Sea man line chemical engine helped. Fire crews from Sardinia Georgetown Peebles Seaman fought the flames. nine hours later the blaze was tamed. The town, a noted N. W. shipping point, faces another costly fire in recent years.

Otis L Meadows and Miss Marietta Spaulding of Norwood wed at Rev B Burd sall’s Batavia home at six oclock Saturday evening July 14 1926. They were joined by Dennis Grimes wife and daughter and Mrs Amy Evans who gave the ring. The couple returned to Norwood for a social hour with friends and gifts.

William Walton colored, trapped eleven feet underground for about thirty minutes, was rescued after trench collapse on Grant avenue near Cherry street. He remained conscious, told rescuers no aid was possible, and suffered severe injuries with recovery expected to take days.

Mrs Low Johnson widow of the late Chas Johnson of Hillsboro visited in the home of her niece Mrs Flora Daugherty on Monday and died Tuesday night at 9 from high blood pressure She had lived in Batavia previously and is survived by two daughters and a son Her brother Jos Christy died recently at Monterey with funeral held Friday

County commissioners met July 9 with payrolls expenses and relief payments recorded plus health warnings from Dr Monger about poliomyelitis with 1206 cases and 167 deaths last year.

Frank West of Milford, a Chevrolet salesman, was accidentally killed on Mitchell Avenue in Cincinnati Monday night. He leaves a widow and three children, two sons and a daughter. details of the death are unavailable.
Friends of Carl Z. Garland report he is in the hospital after an appendicitis operation. He delayed seeking care, but is said to be progressing well.
