Batavia House Included Stock Increase for Ohio District Warehousing

Stockholders of the Ohio District Warehousing Company met at Ripley National Bank to boost capital from 202 500 to 825 500 dollars. The increase raises common stock to 11 750 shares and preferred stock to 28 500 shares, with 100 000 of new preferred stock allocated among five classes A through E to finance more warehouses including Batavia and other locations. Alfred Bettman of Cincinnati served as attorney and general counsel at the meeting.

Tax Deadlines Named For 1921 Acts Provisions

The notice states that to avoid penalties, returns and payment must be made on or before July 31, 1928 for miscellaneous occupational taxes the tobacco manufacturers tax and the tax on boat use under the Revenue act of 1921. Capital stock tax returns are due by the same date.

Frank Knauer longtime No 2 rural route mail carrier retires after 19 years service since the route’s establishment. His daughter Mrs Clarence Slade is named to fill the vacancy until a new carrier is appointed. An examination for the appointment will be held in Cincinnati August 11. Knauer will join the pension list and is praised by patrons.

Storm Damages Crops Across Clermont and Hamilton Counties

A recent storm swept northern Clermont and parts of Hamilton counties causing heavy rains and widespread damage. Hill land was washed and bottom land flooded, corn lay flat and wheat in shock soaked delaying thrashing. Timber and property sustained considerable damage.

A fire sparked by a passing engine struck the Duckwall property now occupied by F. E. Buckle and family near the N. W. depot. Firefighters arrived quickly and extinguished the flames with little loss.

Burglars Strike Blanchester Targeting Dewey Bros and Post Office

Burglars hit Blanchester on Tuesday night entering the Dewey Bros. store and the post office. Bonds worth $7,000 vanished from Dewey Bros. while the post office lost only damage to its safe.
