G G Manning Dead After Long Illness
G G Manning former Moscow resident now of Batavia died Sunday afternoon at his Second street home in his 80th year. He left two daughters Miss Helen Manning and Mrs Lyon Groves of South Dakota with him at death. He was the oldest employee of Chatfield Woods Co Cincinnati. Funeral Tuesday afternoon with burial at Calvary.

Slacker Returned From Sing Sing Held After Depot Arrest
Sheriff Bert Ewing captured three young men at the N and W depot in Batavia for lacking registration cards. Eugene Roberts of Brooklyn admitted time served in Sing Sing and the New York penitentiary. Government officials took him to Cincinnati. charge of a slacker to be filed and he faces years in the penitentiary. His overall record is described as very bad.

Bantam man surrenders after evading exam in Batavia
Ed Kendall of Bantam who registered in 1918 failed to answer for examination at Batavia last September and eluded capture until this past Saturday. He says he worked on the Ohio river. His wife child and father visited him Saturday evening. Kendall phoned Cincinnati seeking permission to appear before the Hamilton county board but was told to report at Batavia where he was jailed awaiting higher authority action. He faces no excuse and likely will be inducted into service without ceremony.
