Jail n Bail fundraiser names 17 with high pledges

Dennis OConnor associate editor appeared on the American Cancer Society honor roll of jailbirds who wrung 300 to 400 dollars in pledges during the Jail n Bail fundraiser June 26 to 28. Rick Crawford and Art Gehrig also raised significant sums. Dennis rode to jail in a police cruiser with Gehrig, while Joel Williams avoided participation.

Ten years after an ambitious TechnoCenter idea, SDRC and its backers moved to a 75,000 square foot headquarters atop a hill on 340 acres along U S 50 in Miami Township. Bethel man sues deputy and county for damages

Ernest Michael Lynch of Bethel sues Clermont County Deputy Michael J. Malott and the county commissioners for 15000 in a civil action filed June 24 in Clermont County Common Pleas Court. He alleges Malott used excessive force during a Feb 19, 1984 arrest, injuring his arm and causing medical costs and lost wages. The suit claims malicious charges and seeks compensatory and punitive damages plus fees. Assistant prosecutor Thomas R. Herman will defend the defendants.

Bigg's property sale to East Wind Association

Hypershoppes of Ohio sold bigg's Place shop mall and 42.66 acre Eastgate Boulevard site for 27 million dollars to East Wind Association of Dallas Texas. Jacques LaFolle spokesman said operations at the store would continue as usual and the sale aims to free capital for other projects including a proposed Fairfield store.

Clermont County Joins Early Jail Bond Grant List

Clermont County will be among the first to receive jail construction grants funded by a state bond issue. Commissioner Jerry R. McBride, prosecutor George Pattison, and administrator Patrick Dinan joined 14 other counties in Columbus to sign grant agreements. The county already borrowed to match the $1.95 million grant and plans a new county office building after debt is reduced to about $5 million by next year.

Moscow's Early Shipping Center on Clermont County Tour
