Miami Two Voters To Decide Fire Levy
MULBERRY The Miami Township Board of Trustees adopted a resolution to place a fire protection tax levy on November ballots. The levy combines a renewing 0.6 mill with an additional 0.4 mill to fund fire protection, officer salaries, water for water-poor areas, and contracts with fire units. Trustees note departments ran in the red last year, despite paying about $3,700 on average to the five departments, including Day Heights. Constable Walter Raidt offers to check vacationers’ properties daily and asks residents to inform him of departures. he urges securing deliveries, asking neighbors to collect mail, mowing, and leaving a light on to simulate occupancy.
