Clermont County Names New Sanitary Engineer

John R. Messick, 33, of Cincinnati, will join Clermont County as county sanitary engineer within a year. He begins August 1 at a $22,000 salary. Carl H. Rush remains acting engineer. Messick holds degrees from Pensacola Junior College and Auburn University and has worked as a chemical engineer for Procter & Gamble and in process design.

12-year-old leads family in Stonelick Canoe-A-Thon action

Clermont County Committee Pushes Prescriptive Training Center

Nine members of the Clermont County Committee for the Prescriptive Training Center urge locating a $7.5 million facility in Clermont County. The center would serve six counties, house about 16 cottages, create around 200 jobs, and provide a six month to three year transition for individuals moving from state facilities to community settings.

Three Resignations Hit Clermont Alcoholism Council

Clermont County Council on Alcoholism reports three staff members resigning Cathy Conners counselor Nancy Bucher secretary and John Huber data collector. Director John Kelly says the council remains in business as usual and offers no reasons for the departures.

Bids Opened for Clermont County Courthouse Elevator

Clermont County commissioners opened bids on July 7 for a new elevator in the Batavia main courthouse. A $45,000 HUD community development grant funds the project, awarded for handicapped access. The elevator will be built on Market Street side, just north of the side entrance. The county administrator noted HUD rarely finances such elevators.
