Youth Campfire Meet Planned By Sportsmen

A youth campfire meeting will be sponsored at 8 p m June 11 by the Clermont Sportsmen at their club grounds near Batavia. Open to all youths and groups, with Jas Darnell of the American Rifle Association as speaker after a program of music films and a free lunch.

VFW Reunion Set For Sunday in Owensville

The third annual Clermont County VFW Council reunion will be held Sunday July 9 starting at 11 a.m. at the Owensville Fairground. Court Asked to Set Aside $10,000 Verdict

A motion by Ely White and Davidson asks Clermont County court to overturn a $10,000 verdict won by Leonard Scott of Williams Corner in a case tied to the death of his daughter Ann May 10 1949. Scott had sought $25,000 claiming the car driven by Frank Marshall Newtonsville struck a bicycle she rode and alleges jury bias and excessiveness.

New Richmond Youth Dies In Fall From Moving Car

A 14 year old boy William Griffith fell from the running board of a moving car driven by his father Raymond Griffith on Twelve Mile Road north of New Richmond. He died from a broken neck after being taken to Mt Washington hospital. Coroner Herbert P. Lyle and Deputy Marvin Bissantz investigated. Funeral set for Saturday at Lew FP White Memorial in New Richmond with burial at Greenmound Cemetery. Family riding in the car included mother Henrietta Griffith sister Jeanette 13 aunt Flossie Adams and three other children Roberta Billie and who were not injured.

Republican Clubs to Meet Next Thursday

A joint meeting of the Clermont County Women's Republican Club and the Citizens Republican Club of Clermont County is set for Thursday evening July 13 at Burke Park Bethel. Basket Picnic to Benefit New Richmond Playgrounds

The New Richmond Playground Clubs sponsor a community basket picnic in the city park Sunday July 9 at 2 p.m. The school band performs and children can join games and a fish pond. Proceeds fund equipment for three new village playgrounds. If rain, move to the high school auditorium.

Garage Fire Destroys Vehicle At Miamiville Home

Fire crews from Miamiville and Milford responded to C. E. Cofield's residence on Ibokt Street where the garage and one car were destroyed. Milford Police Chief Earl N. Konrad said the smoke was visible from a great distance.

Sheriff and Engineer Receive New County Cars

Sheriff Clyde Dericks poses with a new Ford police car capable of high speed for emergencies. County Engineer Carl Rush stands beside a Chevrolet as part of the same county vehicle upgrade begun in 1987. Hartman Deer, highway maintenance superintendent, is shown nearby. The engineer's office now operates multiple vehicles including a station wagon, a pickup, and two dump trucks.
