Williamsburg plans an old fashioned Independence Day with a parade meeting at 6 p.m. at the Legion Hall and starting at 7 p.m. along Main Street to the high school football field. A large fireworks show runs about 10 to 10:30 p.m. followed by an outdoor street dance at the Legion Hall ending July 5 at 8 p.m.
Bethel will host a July Fourth celebration at Bethel High School with a noon parade, 9 30 p.m. fireworks, and family entertainment. The Life Squad booth will offer a bake sale and free blood pressure tests while dolls and accessories are sold for prizes. Fire department and Life Squad will conduct two automobile extrication demonstrations in the afternoon.
Clermont County prepares a 1981 general fund budget of about 7 million dollars, certified to commissioners at 7 001 110 after trimming 7 767 953 in requests. The plan includes anticipated 467 000 in revenue sharing and lists department allocations and revenues from various sources including state federal aid and local fees. Approval by the commissioners on July 10 is expected, with detailed 1980 and 1981 figures for offices from Commissioners to Public Defender and Board of Elections.
Senior Citizens plan four new service centers if voters approve a November construction and operating levy. Proposed sites cover Bethel Felicity New Richmond Union Township Milford Loveland and Williamsburg with a total of 267000 for 1981. Revenue sharing funds are uncertain though, planners say general fund money could cover 216433 for a centrally located center.
Due to the Fourth of July holiday Clermont Newspapers will publish July 9 with earlier deadlines. Submissions must arrive by noon Thursday July 3. Classified and advertising deadlines stay at Monday noon.
Clermont County Plan ning Commission denied two rezoning requests. Thomas Auxier sought to rezone six acres on Mt. Carmel Tobasco Road from Residential-2 to Business-6 for business buildings. Steve Justice also sought 1.1 acres rezoning on Mt. Carmel Tobasco Road.
The Lower East Fork Sewerage System sustains storm damage during September 13 and 14, 1979. Commissioner Bissantz says he requested January action to contract Black & Veatch of Kansas City Missouri, but commissioner Jerome warns the repair would cost about 120000. Commissioner Harold Bissantz pursued the matter despite the setback.
The Chamber of Commerce presented proposals to commissioners to establish a new convention bureau aimed at boosting visitor numbers. Details and continuation referenced on page.
