Clermont Republicans Plan Lincoln Day Dinner at Oaktree

Clermont Republicans will host the Lincoln Day Dinner at the Oaktree Restaurant inside Royal Oak Country Club on February 23. Gillespie to speak at Mt Carmel Republican Club meeting

Roger Gillespie district service director for Eighth District Co. Thomas Kindness will be the featured speaker at the Clermont County Republican Club meeting Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Mt. Carmel American Legion Hall. He will discuss Support Systems of the Republican Party and take questions to aid local clubs. He is a former Ohio Young Republicans chairman and Butler County Republican Executive Committee member. Bethel Clermont Cattlemen Vote On Beef Research Program

Cattlemen in Clermont County will vote February 19 22 on a Beef Research and Information program to fund beef research consumer information promotion and foreign markets. The four day referendum follows a January 28 February 6 registration period at the Clermont County ASCS office with absentee options available. Kermit Acord announced the plan aims to establish a uniform collection system if majority support is achieved.

Clermont County MR Board Reorganizes at Jan 3 1980

Clermont County Board of Mental Retardation held its re organizational meeting January 3 1980. Elected were Kermint E Acord Allen Barret as Vice Chairs and Alfred M Dean as Secretary. Members named Thomas Wildey Viole Wolf Donne Carman and Alberta Cook. The board voted to move the regular monthly meeting to the second Monday of each month.

Balke Engineers discuss 75 funding for a study of sewer requirements around East Fork Lake and Amelia Batavia Bethel and Se Se areas as part of a facilities plan. Commissioner Bissantz resist, pushing a $15,000 Black & Veatch probe into Lower Fork Sewerage System damage to determine liability amid $130,000 repair costs.

Act of God defense eyed in sewer damage case

Sanitary Engineer Donald Reckers argued the damage to the Shaylor Run area of the Lower East Fork Sewerage system was an Act of God after heavy rains on Sept 13 and 14. A $15,000 study was proposed to determine liability, with McGill & Smith Engineers designing the restoration plan and estimates placing repair costs at $120,000. Commission President Robert Croswell noted liability must be decided and did not rule out contracts with Black & Veatch.

Developer offers land and light for Eastgate Plaza shopping center

Chelsea Moore proposes a $12 million Eastgate Plaza neighborhood shopping center on Old SR 74 just north of Eastgate with a supermarket discount store drugstore and savings institution. The Union Township Board approved a zone change to Business 7 Planned. The plan includes a traffic light and a 40 foot right of way easement plus a parallel access drive to improve access from Old SR 74.

Union Township considers 3.5 mill police levy for June ballot

Union Township trustees plan a 3.5 mill police levy for the June primary to expand the force and upgrade dispatch. Chief Russell Willis cites growth from shopping areas and subdivisions, leakage of experienced officers to higher pay counties, and the need for closer to work policing. Trustees meet Feb 12 to discuss a Warner Amex cable contract and dispatch plans.

Williamsburg police pay raises eyed by council

Williamsburg council discussed raises for Police Chief Lloyd Hauck and Patrolman Jim Fritz at the last meeting with Mayor Harry Donaworth pushing for increases. The plan also touched on raises for Bob Bastin and several town staff, zoning updates, a new village map, and appointments to planning and zoning boards as part of broader town governance changes.
