Betty Hinson was named Monday night to fill a New Richmond Council vacancy, succeeding Don Franklin who had taken the seat after Robert Adamson resigned. Hinson, wife of Carrol Hinson and mother of four, has served on multiple local boards and currently manages SEM Store while working with Salvation Army and other groups. The council also eyed a June village levy for street construction, approved a $1.5 million 20 year tax bond proposal, and pre applied for $100,000 HUD development funds for 1977 to fund streets, land purchase, and demolition of substandard housing.
