Government Insurance Promises Broad Soldier Coverage

Four million officers and men of the Army and Navy are insured with the United States Government for about 87 billion dollars. Continue current premiums to preserve protection and eligible to convert to standard government policy without medical exam. Letters From Soldiers Reach Mrs Beeler From France

A long war letter from Arthur J. Beeler of Amelia describes travel through tunnels in France and England, a rest camp at Romsey, hikes to church, a larger supply base in France, and duties as a clerk and foreman of a large operation. War Savings Work In Clermont County Initiated

T. G. Foster of Williamsburg takes charge of the War Savings effort for Clermont County for the coming year. He launches Bring em Back clubs named for boys overseas service. Each club must purchase 600 dollars in savings certificates to fund the return of the honored servicemen. Schools under Superintendent Aultman will support the campaign.

Where Are The Dogs In Tax Age Licenses Are Due

The county auditor questions where the dogs are, noting only about half have reported and received license tags. The law requires registration for dogs over three months old and imposes fines up to $26 for noncompliance or up to $100 for possessing a dog with invalid or unissued tags. Pet owners are urged to obtain tags to avoid penalties.

Ohio district court pursues truancy with harsh penalties

In a 1919 probate court case Judge Young found Arnold and Adria Gerling delinquent for truancy after their parents failed to send them to school. The court ordered the children returned to parental custody on condition of daily attendance, with threats of workhouse sentences and arrest for continued truancy. Special probation officers and superintendents will enforce attendance.

William Graham Fails to Return After Release

William Graham was taken before Mayor Burnet last Friday charged with furnishing liquor to a minor. He was released on his own recognizance until Monday but failed to return.

Tobacco Prices Drive Farmers in Ripley Area

Tobacco growers across the Ripley region report rising prices and large outputs. C D Foster and others sold tens of thousands of pounds to buyers in Maysville and Batavia, with prices from 20 to 48 cents per pound. Local talk promotes a loose leaf warehouse at Batavia and notes a bumper 1919 crop.

Mrs. Frank Leming Dies Suddenly at 68

Mrs. Frank Leming of Williams Corner died suddenly Sunday morning after preparing breakfast. Cause listed as stroke of apoplexy. Husband survives. Funeral Tuesday at 10 a.m. with burial at Milford. She was 68 years old.
