Batavia Plans New Look for Its Business District

A Batavia special committee of the Batavia Businessmen's Association met to plan beautification and possible renovation of the Main Street district. President Don Saylor chaired with members including Leroy Creager and Anita Glancy. Cincinnati architects Fiedler and Head offered design photography and advisory support. residents urged to join via Don Saylor. Meeting set for Friday Feb 19 at 7 30 p m in the municipal building.

New Bid Opening Set On MGS Sewer System

Clermont County Commissioners rejected all bids for the collection system portion of the MGS Sewer project and set a new bid opening for 10 am February 17. They conditionally accepted bids from Dugan & Meyers Construction Co. and J. E. Sauls Construction Co. within estimates for the trunklines and building work.

Detention Center Site Survey by Prindle and Patrick Firm

A team from Prindle and Patrick Columbus will study design and location of a new detention center to replace the county jail. Deputy county engineer Walt Carter coordinates a six month project aiming to offer inmates trades training and life skills. Bridge and Sewer Projects Close Two Clermont Roads

Clermont County Engineer Carl H. Rush says two roads will be closed Monday for bridge and sewer work. Chapel Rd in Batavia Township shuts to through traffic for the Amelia Batavia Township Sewer System project. Blue Sky Park Rd in Jackson Township is closed for a bridge rehabilitation over the East Fork of the Little Miami River. Champion Bridge Co. holds the contract. The Clermont County Antique and Classic Car Club plans a Feb. 3 film showing Ford Flat Out at the Flamingo Club near Owensville.

Hadley Charged In Head On Auto Crash

Robert W. Hadley 21 of Goshen faces reckless driving and first degree manslaughter charges after a Saturday head on crash on Ohio 28 four miles east of Milford that killed Irene Hammons 28 of Blanchester. Dale F. Walker a Goshen resident rode as passenger. Hammons worked as a hair stylist at Andi's Terrace Park Beauty Salon in Milford. Funeral services were held in Barboursville Kentucky with burial there.

Ohio officials outline state participation limits for a Clermont County training center for the mentally retarded. They propose paying up to 32 dollars per square foot for the approved building size, with substantial reductions for excessive areas, and press local officials to redesign layouts to fit funding constraints.

Annexation Hearings Set for New Richmond Area

County Commissioners schedule March 30 hearing at 10 a.m. on annexing 500 acres to New Richmond. Petition signed by 92 property owners, including church properties, presented by Stephen A. Durkee. The site runs Bethel New Richmond Rd to SR 132 near Little Indian Creek in Ohio Township. A prior petition seeks 110 acres between Little Indian Creek Rd and Gee Hill Rd for village annexation, with a Feb. 16 hearing.

Play Director to Stage Christie Mystery at Bethel Tate

C C Kinnison will direct the Agatha Christie mystery Ten Little Indians at the Bethel Tate High School Auditorium on February 2 at 8 p.m. Sponsored by the Bethel Tate Area Chamber of Commerce, the production showcases Kinnison, a noted theater professional with ties to Brown Theatre in Louisville and other venues, and a humanities professor at Lees College in Jackson Kentucky.
