County Recorder William Shebesta notes December activity up while 1970 totals for deeds 3456 and mortgages 2238 with financing statements 3287 amounted to 49 735 807 dollars, below 1969 levels. Comparing yearly totals since 1966 shows general gains except 1970.
Clermont County officials push to speed US 50 Lila Avenue Mohawk Trail signal installation. County Engineer Carl H. Rush will ask the Ohio Department of Highways to move up the project listed for 1973. Milford leaders say accidents and heavy traffic at the intersection demand action now.
Batavia Ohio based Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3744 won first prize among VFW posts for cemetery upkeep and plans to enter the exhibit in the national competition in Dallas Texas in August. Class of 1946 graduates in Cincinnati hold a reunion at Hotel Gibson with Smittie's Band and request help locating missing classmates in Clermont County.
Richard Baxter files in Common Pleas Court on behalf of his 9 year old daughter Sue Ann seeking 250000 in damages after a March 31 1970 dog attack by Edward and Mrs. Edward Chandler. The petition alleges the dog was vicious and had knowledge of its propensity to harm others and that the child suffered severe lacerations and ongoing medical needs. Attorneys are Mebs Altmayer Ben Hagen of Cincinnati.
Milford plans a two lane bridge beside the existing span on the downstream side funded by State Issue No 1. A four lane replacement for Loveland's bridge was in initial plans. Construction is planned for 1972 with public hearings after Milford legislation moves forward.
Milford Fairfax Mariemont and Terrace Park mayors and councilmen meet at Milford Council chambers at 8 p.m. Tuesday January 26 to discuss an amicable Route 50 relocation. Also attending are a Little Miami Inc. representative and Milford Area Chamber of Commerce officials.
Russell Simmons Clermont County Clerk of Courts was named to the 15 member legislative committee of the First District Clerk of Courts Association by state president Gordon Cummings. Simmons previously chaired District 1 which covers Clermont Brown Adams Highland Fayette Clinton Warren Hamilton and programs for the clerks association.
Common Pleas Judge Louis B Schwartz will set a date to hear testimony in a suit to stop New Richmond from doubling water and sewer rates. Judge Schwartz denied village solicitor Paul Krone's motion to dismiss, citing Board of Public Affairs as the rate setter. Douglas Mansfield for 32 plaintiffs said 60 days are needed to prepare. A joint meeting considered contracting a private hauler for garbage collection, a village function, with no increase to the $2 monthly rate.
The Owensville United Methodist Church will host Bishop F. Gerald Ensley of the Ohio West Area for a consecration service Sunday January 24 at 10 30 a m. located one mile east of Owensville on U S 50. An open house from 3 5 p m follows for the community to view the new building.
A two acre tract on Benton Road between SR 132 and U S 50 west of Owensville won State Board of Health approval as a prospective county landfill site. Soil tests remain to be conducted. The site is among several under consideration.
