Batavia VFW Posts Prize for Cemetery Care at National Event

Batavia Ohio based Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3744 won first prize among VFW posts for cemetery upkeep and plans to enter the exhibit in the national competition in Dallas Texas in August. Suit Seeks 250000 For Child Attacked By Dog

Richard Baxter files in Common Pleas Court on behalf of his 9 year old daughter Sue Ann seeking 250000 in damages after a March 31 1970 dog attack by Edward and Mrs. Edward Chandler. The petition alleges the dog was vicious and had knowledge of its propensity to harm others and that the child suffered severe lacerations and ongoing medical needs. Two New Bridges To Span Little Miami

Milford plans a two lane bridge beside the existing span on the downstream side funded by State Issue No 1. A four lane replacement for Loveland's bridge was in initial plans. Construction is planned for 1972 with public hearings after Milford legislation moves forward.

Russell Simmons Clermont County Clerk of Courts was named to the 15 member legislative committee of the First District Clerk of Courts Association by state president Gordon Cummings. Court To Hear Testimony On Water Rates

Common Pleas Judge Louis B Schwartz will set a date to hear testimony in a suit to stop New Richmond from doubling water and sewer rates. Judge Schwartz denied village solicitor Paul Krone's motion to dismiss, citing Board of Public Affairs as the rate setter. Douglas Mansfield for 32 plaintiffs said 60 days are needed to prepare. A joint meeting considered contracting a private hauler for garbage collection, a village function, with no increase to the $2 monthly rate.

One Landfill Site OK'd Near Owensville

A two acre tract on Benton Road between SR 132 and U S 50 west of Owensville won State Board of Health approval as a prospective county landfill site. Soil tests remain to be conducted. The site is among several under consideration.
