Adams County Idol Ends With Acquittal After Farm Feud

Dick Pool and MRlt Vance, adjacent Adams county farmers, quarreled over border lines and farm tasks then fought with forks and guns. Pool fired three times at Vance, who charged with a pitchfork. Pool later used a shotgun, but both shots failed and a truce followed. A jury acquitted Pool of shooting with intent to kill after a five minute deliberation.

Black Diamond Railroad Proposed Route From Columbus to New Richmond

Col umbus to New Richmond railroad plan filed with the Secretary of State outlines a line along the Scioto river from Columbus to Chillicothe via Bainbridge West Union and Aberdeen and then down the Ohio river to New Richmond. The project promises vast traffic and regional growth and aims for construction by next fall under the management of Mr Boone.

Ohio offers free Chickamauga battle volume to regiments

The State of Ohio publishes an illustrated volume on the Chickamauga battle. Sixty free copies are set for each participating regiment, including the 59th and 89th Clermont regiments, each with a monument. Adjutant General’s office supplies blank applications if quotas remain.

Clermont County Fair Officers Named At Annual Meeting

The Clermont County Agricultural Society elected officers for the coming year at the Batavia gathering on January 2 and 23. Newly chosen president Bennett Behymer leads the group with G M Roudebush as vice president and J O Rapp as treasurer, with John Rowan as secretary and several committees named for grounds printing auditing and finance. Dates for the next fair are September 4 7 9 and 10 1897.

Mrs. Julia Witham a leading Withamsville woman was found dead in bed after apparently taking rat poison the fourth self inflicted attempt in seven years following her husband W D Withams death from a horse kick. Winchester man shoots at bridge dispute over hog meat

Adams County report says Allen Fenton hunted rab bits near a bridge last week. He tore up the structure to obtain meat and later accused Rhodes of causing the damage. Rhodes then shot Fenton in the eye after a verbal exchange. Rhodes was arrested.

Bantam Fair Debt Plan Emerges At Stockholders Meeting

Stockholders of the Bantam Fair Association met at the Rapp House to review finances and plan debt adjustment. Directors and creditors may be secured by a lien on fair property as a pathway to cancel nearly one thousand dollars of indebtedness. The list of creditors includes Dr. W. E.
