Fire damages Bethel home and theft at Batavia shop
Bethel residents Paul and wife Van Winkle faced a fire Sunday on Maple Pike caused by a smoldering cigarette. The blaze, discovered by passer by Alice Oberklein, caused 7500 dollars in damage with 7500 dollars insurance. In Batavia, Smitty's Carry-Out reported Friday theft of 15 bottles of wine and 60 bags and cans of nuts valued at 50 dollars, with entry via holes in plate glass windows repaired by owners Ronald Rogers.

DeMolay Installation Sets at Amelia Masonic Temple
Carl E. Tax delinquencies being processed in Clermont County
Robert A. Jones, Clermont County prosecuting attorney, announced the first group of certified tax delinquencies is being processed. County Auditor H. Earl Metzger certified the lands, letters were sent to owners early in the year, and about one third of those notified have paid in full.

Three Jailed On Weapons Charge In Batavia Incident
Phillips Gardener 52 and his two sons Orey 20 and Kenneth 19 were jailed on weapons charges after a 2:30 a.m. Batavia confrontation at 189 Forest Ave. Officers were disarmed as shots discharged during the scuffle. A hearing is set for Monday in county court.

Goshen Family Hurt In Crash In Milford Area
Five members of the King family were injured when Mildred Carter 63 of Milford ran a stop sign at Woodville Pike and Deerfield Road striking their car. John E. King 38, his wife Lounett 37, and others were hurt as a result of the collision.

Outlaw Faces Spitting Charge In Ohio Case
Peter J. Cotter, 23, of Columbus, will answer disorderly conduct charges in Clermont County court at 10 am Monday. The case stems from allegations by Cincinnati photographers Gerry Walter, Springmeier, and Charlie Baer while Kirby, 21, of West Carrollton, faced a separate assault claim against Lakeview Tavern owner Robert Stocker near Amelia. Cars Recovered After Auto Thefts In Williamsville Area
Two stolen cars were recovered last Wednesday by sheriff deputies. One owned by Samuel E. Sen was found on Rose Lane Amelia. the owner did not know it was taken. A second car, from Bethel owner Gerald Idlett, was taken from Starlite Inn Mt Holly and found in Larry Skeens yard. Driver Carl Craycraft, 18, of Williamsville was arrested and charged with auto larceny. The vehicle damaged two planters two trees and a mailbox before entering Skeens yard.
