Goat Stray Reclaimed by Owner in Williamsville Case

A black nanny goat that strayed to Fred Steinmetz's property on Route 125 Williamsville is held awaiting its owner. The owner may reclaim by calling Mr Steinmetz who picked up the goat about two weeks ago from the fourth house from the public school in Withamsville.

First Dance Planned for Legion Home Near Batavia

The inaugural dance at the new American Legion home near Batavia is set for 9 p m Saturday February 11. Post 237 members get first pick of 300 tickets on a first come basis. Benefit Party Set At Milford School Auditorium

A Polio Fund benefit will be held at Milford School auditorium on Saturday night. Damage Suits Filed Against Local Man By Man and Wife

Roy N. Ayer and the Ayer Hardware Company of Batavia are defendants in two damage suits totaling about 15 000. The suits stem from a June 25 1949 explosion and fire that destroyed a three room Patterson road Tate Township house owned by Thelma Daugherty. The Daughertys claim gas escaped from faulty pipe connections installed for a bottle gas stove. Mrs Daugherty seeks 3 000 for loss of the house. her husband asks 11 600 for lost household equipment and rent. she alleges 10 000 for statements attributed to Ayer as false and malicious.

Services Held for Veteran Pharmacist

Funeral services for Herman J. Wiemeyer, veteran pharmacist of Mt. Carmel Pharmacy, will be held at 2 p m this Thursday at Fredway Funeral Home Norwood. He died Monday at his home 3400 Erie Avenue Cincinnati. Survived by his widow two children and three grandchildren.

Jury Fails To Reach Verdict In $1,000 Damage Suit

In Clermont County, Charles W. and Thelma R. Bryant sue Bethel village over water shutoff errors causing $1000 damages. A prior trial favored Bethel village. a new trial was granted. The jury could not agree on damages after testimony about a waterworks employee misturning a valve.

Prominent Batavian Dies After Short Illness

C Quinlin Leonard husband of Elsie Pettie Leonard died at his Batavia home after several weeks illness. Services at William Sterling Moore Funeral Home Batavia Thursday at 2 30. Burial Batavia cemetery. Common Pleas Court closed all day. Leonard served as court bailiff and was a Spanish American War veteran, last member of a prominent Batavia family. He lived at the head of Main Street and was long associated with the Clermont Courier.

Local farmers meet at Williamsburg on soil conservation district

More than 300 county farmers attended Clermont Soil Conservation District’s first annual meeting January 18 at Williamsburg High School. Elected to board unexpired terms were E. C. Saxton, Ralph Wehrum, and Bernard Caudill. Speakers included John A. Slipher, Cliff Whittmeyer, Robert Hildebrandt, Ross Villars, and Lester Dunn, who described terracing, storage barns, and home‑grown lumber initiatives to boost productivity.

Local Man Dies Of Broken Back In Milford Work Accident

Frank G. Stagge Jr. of Woodville Pike near Milford died last Friday at General Hospital from an on the job accident in which his back was broken by a falling tree. He was 41. Services were held Monday afternoon at Monroe Funeral Home Milford with the Fruit Hill Presbyterian Church and burial at Greenlawn Cemetery. He is survived by his parents six sisters and one brother.

Baseball Club to Hold Meeting in Batavia

The Clermont County knothole baseball organization meets Monday evening at the Court House in Batavia to plan the coming season and consider a new age class for players 17 and under. All teams are urged to send a representative. Officers elected last month for 1950: Dick Cahall supervisor, Lyle List president, Peter Hector vice president, Kyle Taylor secretary, Sam Bateman treasurer, Stanley Anstaett publicity chair of Rules Committee. Edward Elmer Bowen, 30, dies from compound skull fractures in a two car collision one mile west of Bethel.
