Batavia Tobacco Market Posts Strong Averages Across Sales
Batavia held three regular tobacco sales last week with high floor averages and broad participation. Wednesday reported 46,986 lbs offered, 18,516 lbs rejected, floor average 12.79 per cwt. Friday saw 40,100 lbs offered, 1,240 lbs rejected and 88,820 lbs sold at 22.20 per cwt. Monday offered 64,850 lbs with 1,970 lbs rejected and 52,880 lbs sold at 21.98 per cwt, high basket 52 per hundred. Several producers from Locust Corner and New Richmond topped per hundred figures.
