Oak Tree Club to be county run this week
The county plans to sign a one year lease and take over management of the Oak Tree Club off St. Rt. 125 in Pierce Township near Williamsburg. The facility offers golf, swimming, tennis and a clubhouse restaurant, with possible operation of the club restaurant by Heritage Restaurant owners. County officials expect the deal to be finalized Thursday after talks with current owners.

Ice flows slow river traffic amid thaw at Meldahl Dam
Last week thaw reduces ice on the river delaying barges carrying salt and coal through the Meldahl Dam locks between Neville and Chile. Only three barges moved in 24 hours at times while tugs broke up ice, and a single barge below the dam remained stationary for days. As snow melts, flood risks may bring debris and trees downstream.
