A diamond studded 18 karat white gold wedding band engraved inside with GWB to HAB was found after being lost on Amelia area roads around 1925. Tax Briggs of Locust Corner Store kept it on his key chain and later had it appraised at Stratman’s Jewelry in Batavia, valued between 50 and 60 dollars, with hopes to reunite it with GWB or HAB.

Services Held For Flier Killed In B 17 Crash
Memorial services were held at Batavia EUB church for First Lt. Wayne A. Schobert of Owensville Ohio killed in a B 17 crash near Griffis AFB Rome New York. He was a World War II veteran and active in Owensville church affairs survived by his wife Dorothy and daughter Pamela and his parents. The crash occurred during an ice episode as pilots attempted to avert nearby homes.

Villages Reject Plan to Fund Library With Tax Share
Clermont Budget Commission sought village contributions of intangible tax money for the County Library Fund. Amelia Batavia Williamsburg Milford rejected the proposal and kept funds in their village treasuries. Auditor Kincaid had urged the transfer while the Library District awaits needed operating funds. The district had previously failed to win a special levy from county voters. Milford estimated intangible taxes at about $8,000. other villages followed suit.

Blaze Destroys New Milford Home Near Camp Dennison
Fire swept through Alvin Russell’s five room residence at Camp Dennison causing about 7000 dollars in damage excluding furniture. The blaze began in a utility room and is believed to be caused by an oil heater. Milford and Miamiville fire crews battled the flames but the dwelling was a total loss with two rooms sustaining lighter damage.

Laurel Man Found Dead Near Bethel Strangulation Blamed

New Use for Siren Adopted by Batavia Fire Department
