Great Rivers Girl Scout Cookie Sale Begins 1982

The Great Rivers Girl Scout Council announces the 1982 cookie sale in Clermont County from July 23 to February 6. Girl Scouts will take orders for March delivery with cookies priced at $1.50 per box. Proceeds support camp maintenance, program development, and leader training for the council and troops. The lineup includes seven flavors such as Scot-Teas, Thin Mints, Dutch cookies, Kookaburras, Savannah creams, Chocolate Cremes, and Hoedowns.

Fundamentals of Dance at Clermont College opens January 20

A new credit class Fundamentals of Dance starts January 20 at Clermont College with Jill Fankhauser teaching. Fankhauser, a graduate of the High School of Music and Art in New York City, studied modern dance at Cornell and will choreograph and perform a fusion of ballet jazz and primitive dance with live African drums by Oginga Khamisi. Call the Clermont College Registrar at 732-2990 for details and open enrollment.

The Clermont County Republican Club will gather at the CG&E auditorium in Batavia on Thursday January 21 at 8 p.m. The program is Reapportionment What Now. Refreshments will be served, according to club president Allen Heim bold.

Prisoner Work Crews and Modular Jail Planned

Clermont County officials and four county court judges will meet in late January to discuss prisoner work crews under House Bill 295102 probation program screening for complaints and the operation of a $1.5 million modular jail facility for 40 hires. The meeting aims to resolve insurance and workers compensation issues and outline crew pay to avoid liability. The session is set for January 27 at 2 p.m. at County Court in Batavia with Sheriff John Van Camp and officials invited.

Jerilyn Stanfield, 30, of Cor alsea Drive Anderson planned a 3 p.m. meeting in Hyde Park and did not appear. Police found her gold 1974 Volkswagen at Eastgate Mall with cosmetics, purse, wallet, cards, and $20 on the front seat. Car keys were missing and investigators note a similar incident occurred Friday involving a masked abduction attempt near Abeta.

Common pleas candidates weigh bill before June primary

Candidates for common pleas judge decide whether to run in the June 8 primary as a bill in the state legislature could create a third judgeship in the county. Republican John Watson, appointed in 1981 to replace Ralph Hill, is expected to seek election. Louis Schwartz considered a GOP appointment to the appeals court but cited family and court duties as limits. Ralph Hill said he is not seeking appointment and remains with his law firm.

Clermont County mulls juvenile facility beside SR 222
