Red Cross Yearly Report for Clermont County

The Red Cross annual meeting on January 7 reviewed the year’s work and plans. Officers elected include Marie Young as County Chairman and Grace McDonald as Home Service Chair. roll call totals show strong local support vs nearby counties. Bethel Postmaster Promises Free Mail Delivery Soon

John Swing Bethel postmaster with Hon. C CO Kearns says town will soon receive free mail delivery. Swing and supporters have pressed the department for the service. Swing’s past service as ex-county recorder earned him strong local backing for the move.

Mason Buys Controlling Interest in Felicity Firm

Dr H Mason, long involved with the Home Telephone Co of Felicity, bought the controlling stake last week. He will implement several changes after April 1 when he takes charge. The firm is an old established business and a good purchase.

Farmers of Monroe township plan a two day session at the Baptist church in Nicholsville in January 2021. State speakers include Mrs Thomas Pierce and Verner Crouse. The event promises a fine affair with an attractive evening program.

Taxes Payable Amid Delayed Tobacco Revenue News

The last day to pay December taxes prompts a 30 day extension. penalties apply for late payments. County commissioners granted the extension, aiding many taxpayers in a season marked by tobacco crop deliveries and delayed receipts. Tax money collected may surpass prior years.

Clermont Cow Qualifies For Register of Merit in Jersey Club

Majesty's Clotaire 418680 owned by Camden Terrace Farm Milford Ohio completed an 806 day test producing 527.01 pounds of fat and 12477 pounds of milk with the calf for 188 days. This earns her a Register of Merit from the American Jersey Cattle Club. Previous tests show 481.04 pounds of fat as Junior two and 443.02 pounds of fat as Junior three.

Clermont County Board of Education Re-elects Lough President

The Clermont County Board of Education reorganized January meeting. C E Lough was re elected as president and Lowell Roudebush as vice president with new member F C Hartsock. A budget for 1926 27 was adopted. Monroe Township transportation dispute upheld. Regular meetings set for the first Monday each month at 9 30 A M in Batavia Superintendent's office. Prices on incubators and brooders offered by P M Rapp Batavia.

Owensville Farmers Institute to Meet at High School

The second annual Clermont County Fruit Growers' Association session at Amelia Town Hall held a banquet for about 100. J. M. Heil was elected president with J. D. Cross vice president and Albert N. Coombs as secretary treasurer. County Agent Wm. G. Winemiller and Experiment Station staff spoke on cooperative marketing and orchard plans. Members urged to join at $1 to access meetings and business sessions.

The Batavia Woman's Club launches a drive to raise funds for a memorial honoring Miss Elma Townsley, a 42-year Batavia Public Schools teacher who died recently. Subscriptions from one dollar to fifty dollars are welcomed, with blanks at local bank and club members accepting donations, to be used for an enduring tribute.

The Woman's Auxiliary of the American Legion held a Tuesday meeting at Mrs. E. K. Parrott's home. Commander Harold D. Nichols installed officers including Gertrude Spencer as President Evalinda Tomlinson as Vice President Helen Heaton as Second Vice President Martha Pima as Treasurer Ann Stewart as Secretary Edna Nichols as Recording Secretary and Edna Nichols as Hospital Chairman. Members are urged to attend the next regular meeting due to many tasks ahead.

State highway plan to spend 35 million on pikes next 18 months
