The CAC will meet at 7 30 p m Thursday January 26 in the CG and E Auditorium Batavia. The agenda includes approval of a summer head count and related items.
William H. Quinn of Ander Township was installed as Lt Governor of Kiwanis Eighth Division at the Akron meeting on Saturday January 7. He has eleven years as a Kiwanian and leadership roles with Owensville and Eighth Division committees. he leads Quinn Insurance Agency and has past president status with Clermont County Association of Insurance Agents. The Eighth Division includes thirteen clubs and 410 members. First Division Council meeting set for January 19 at El Rancho Rankin Restaurant hosted by Mt Lookout Hyde Park Club led by President Don Murphy.
Fred B. Critchell Jr. of Clermont Lumber Co Milford says the Appalachian Highway project will force his firm to move. He notes the site has railroad siding, highway frontage and water on at least four acres, essential for lumber operations.
Bethel clerk-treasurer Plotner plans Kentucky non-resident fishing licenses for his son Charles of New Richmond and himself. On arrival license numbers misassigned with license No 1 issued to the father and No 2 to the son in a Christmas gesture.
The Little Miami Valley Development Association will host its fifth annual meeting at 6 30 p m Jan 25 at the American Legion Hall Milford with speakers J E V Vince Wagner Col Robert R Wessels and Dr Robert W Teater discussing Caesar Creek and East Fork reservoir plans The event aims to draw 350 guests from 10 communities and includes a Ladies night victory dinner led by association officers Richard C Jamieson J E Carnahan and Flack Douglas.
Batavia chapter of American Field Service forms to host a foreign high school senior living with a local family. Officers include Tom Middendorf as president and Ken neth Jones as projects head. Local families may apply via chairwoman Mrs Paul at 732-0656. funding hoped at 750 dollars.
Eugene Vanlandingham of Goshen, a builder, will head the Clermont County Planning Commission in 1967, his fifth year on the panel. He replaces Robert Tilley who resigned for a Michigan job transfer. Harley Houck becomes vice chairman, Ed Miller reelected secretary, with 1967 committee assignments announced. The panel rejected a zoning change request by Charles McGuire for a Glen Este site, with public hearing set for Jan. 18. Buckley noted $7894 unspent from 1966 budget out of $27,000. Vanlandingham urged a county north south highway plan to present to state officials.
Clermont County Republican Club kicked off plans for a February 10 Lincoln Day Dinner. Louis Schwartz will finish arrangements and ticket sales while Robert True named Ernest Friedrich to lead a permanent booth project for fairs and outdoor events. Helen Hardy will head an addressing system group for better clan communications with county committees.
Minten Christman Miami Township clerk secretary Peter Heckter Union Township trustee president and Harley Clark Pierce Township trustee vice president head the group. Committee screening honorary memberships includes Carl Wiggins Richard Winder Myers Deel and Bud Hines. Absent members were Carl Ritter and John Freeman as executive committeeman represents the local association at state level.
The West Clermont Board of Education announces public hearings at Amelia and Glen Este High Schools on Feb 6 and 20 to gather advice on how to keep schools open amid a looming budget shortfall after an 8 mill levy was defeated. The board outlines the financial crisis, potential mid November closures, and the need to consider cuts and future levy actions.
