Herbert Channer Dies of Heart Attack

Services were held Tuesday for Herbert Channer who died of a heart attack at the home of his father in law Dr. F. M. Oxley in Batavia and Cincinnati. He was born in Paris Ontario near Detroit and once worked in Cincinnati brokerage and was with the investment firm H. B. Cohle at death. He leaves a widow Florence Oxley Channer and son Jack, four brothers in Chicago, a sister in San Diego, and the Channers had lived at the Oxley home since Mrs. Oxley’s death.

Patchell brothers news from Belgium and France

Mr and Mrs Lloyd Patchell learned their son Cpl Jack Patchell was wounded on the Belgium front Christmas Eve while serving as a Partrooper in the 101 Airborn Division and was reported in a hospital in France. Their other son Lt Ralph Patchell, with the 9th Air Force, said he shot down a German plane over Belgium on December 18.

Milford loses prominent railroader Joseph E. Davis

Joseph E. Davis 73 a Milford Mason and veteran railroad man died last Tuesday after a heart attack while sweeping snow at his home. Services were held Friday at Monroe Funeral Home with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Davis was a 32d Degree Mason and held many lodge and Masonic titles. He began with the C. G. & P. line and later served as yard master and foreman for B. & O. before retiring two years ago from the Ohio Gravel Co. He was born in Indiana and moved to Milford in boyhood. He leaves Charlotte Langhorn Davis his widow two foster sons Walter Strobel and William McCullough a brother Allan Davis and three sisters.

Felicity Couple Celebrates 58th Anniversary

Mr and Mrs Charles C Armacost celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary last Saturday. Mrs Armacost was formerly Miss Ann Canter. The couple has lived in Clermont County all their lives and enjoy good health. He was a prominent farmer, now retired, and they attend Pt Isabel Christian Church and have long been active in church work.

Two hundred forty six men women and children in Clermont County receive old age and survivors insurance totaling 4667 56 monthly or 56010 72 yearly announced by Edwin Baum manager of the Cincinnati Field Office of the Social Security Board The Cincinnati office serves Hamilton Highland Clermont and Brown Counties In this area 7927 people receive benefits totaling 155278 24 monthly or 1863338 88 yearly Clermont County rolls show 128 retired workers 65 or over 2948 80 monthly 38 wives 65 or over 498 66 monthly 16 widows with young children 328 18 monthly 55 children of deceased or retired workers 690 60 monthly plus benefits to aged dependent parents of insured workers who die without a wife or child. That old age and survivors insurance is truly a family insurance plan.

Ohio to distribute final 1944 auto license funds

Ohio counties and municipalities will receive 2 279563 for 1944 auto license fees under Section 6309 2 of the General Code.
