Hearing on Rt. 32 133 projects in Williamsburg

Ohio Department of Highways schedules a 2 p.m. January 21 public hearing at Williamsburg High School to discuss the Rt. 32 widening and Rt. 133 relocation project in Clermont County. The 18 mile plan runs from De La Palma Road to the Clermont Brown County line and includes resurfacing reconstruction and an SR 133 intersection upgrade. Relocation assistance will be offered to displaced residents businesses and nonprofits.

Smith Again Heads County Planners

The Clermont County Planning Commission re elected J. Kermit Smith of Williamsburg as chairman at the January 6 meeting. Three new members joined the group. Officials discussed sending Smith and Dalia Buckley to Huntington to meet the Army Corps of Engineers about acquiring the 14 acre Lock and Dam 34 site for a county park.

Group Forms Education Organization in West Clermont

Mrs Elaine Fille of Williamsville announces the formation of a new permanent education group in the West Clermont school district. The organization aims to research and inform the public on all facets of local education. An organizing committee met at Glen Este High School and future formal setup will be announced.

Batavia council approves sewer extension bid

Batavia officials accept Hamilton Excavators low bid of 53,160 for W Main St sewer extension and authorize Mayor Jamieson to sign a contract with Fairfield firm. Work to begin in about two weeks.

Beech Forest Chapter DAR Elects Nominating Committee

Beech Forest Chapter DAR met at the Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg on a Saturday afternoon in January 1923 to elect delegates to the Continental Congress in Washington and to the state convention at the Neil House March 10 to 12. New officers will be elected. nominating committee members Mrs Stanley Morel Mrs Grace Hirschauer and Miss Josephine Wilson will present a ticket at the February 13 meeting. An anecdote about drivers was read by Mrs R Lowell Atkins. Hostesses were Mrs William Hauck Mrs Grace M Hirschauer and Miss Sheila Fisher.

Town Hall Meeting To Discuss New Glen Este District

A Glen Este town hall meeting is set for tonight at 8 p.m. in Glen Este high school to discuss forming a new school district from West Clermont. Public invited. contact Mrs. Helen Hardy at 752-2611. The American Indian Chairman reports gifts sent to St Marys School for Indian girls in Springfield NC and to Kate Duncan Smith and Tamassee in the South. Monetary gifts were included.

West Clermont School Board adopts a resolution urging the county board to reject dividing the district. Members Wiseman Evanshine and Russell voted yes with Rosenhoffer opposing. a separate public meeting is set at Glen Este High School.

Metzger was re-elected president of the Felicity-Franklin board of education. Raymond Evans became vice president, succeeding Pierce Schadle. Public Hearing backs Rt. 125 four lane plan Bethel

The State Highway Department's 3.6 million plan to widen Rt. 125 from Amelia to Bethel into a four lane superhighway drew broad support at a public hearing. Supporters favor reconstruction over relocation with work to start after July 1, 1966 and last about a year.

County Appropriates $3 Million For 1965 Budget

Commissioners have appropriated $3,170,708 to operate county government in 1965. The breakdown includes General fund $1,078,302 Real Estate Reappraisal $95,179 Roads and Bridges $937,000 Dog and Kennel fund $17,070 Soldiers' and Sailors' Relief $111,684 Bond Retirement $8,200 and Relief $922,272.

Burglary Solved in Miami Township and Terrace Park Club

Sheriff Don Watson reported two service station burglaries in Miami township and a footing at Terrace Park Country Club solved. Equipment valued at 862 dollars taken from Duncan's Sunoco Station east of Day Heights after a window break. Beagle's Ashland Service east of Milford also hit for batteries a recapped tire and five dollars. A tip led to the arrest of Dennis Goodin 20 and four juveniles in the Golf Pro Shop theft. most stolen goods recovered. Goodin and three juveniles in custody. Fourth youth released on bond.
