Batavia post master Harry Hollerback announces route six to operate January 17 mainly along State Route 74 and Glen Este area. Batavia Post Office reports a ten percent growth, receipts of 39500, serving over three thousand families, with possible waivers on city delivery rules if civic groups organize and prove demand.

Auditor Extends Batavia Courtroom Hours for Water Easements

Barley Kincaid Clermont County auditor says the Batavia courthouse conference room will stay open Saturday January 15 until 4 p.m. so property owners can sign water easements for the new water system.

Ohio State University economist Lyle Barnes spoke on Agricultural Outlook for 1955 at Batavia school auditorium January 11. He forecast livestock price trends and commodity movements. Louise Nuxell of the Social Security Office in Cincinnati described how Social Security affects farmers, a new item this year affecting nearly all farmers.

Ruffner Elected Board President

Ernest Ruffner of Williamsburg was elected president of the Clermont County Board of Commissioners by fellow commissioners. He was nominated by Fred Croswell for the one year term, with Commissioner Clark nominating Croswell and Ruffner voting after a hospital visit to Christ Hospital in Cincinnati where Ruffner is a patient.

Probate Judge Orville Halbisch accepts the chairmanship of Clermont County 1955 Red Cross fundraising campaign. Campaign starts March 1 as he forms a corps of community chairmen and solicitors. Charles Schneider heads disaster relief. Mary Lou Elliott leads Junior Red Cross. Harold Nichols to head first aid. John Friend as first aid instructor. Success Scored In Foster Shoot At Batavia

The Carl G. Foster memorial shoot at the Frank W. Weaver Post American Legion Batavia on January 9 raised 350 dollars plus donations for a Cincinnati Children's Hospital room in Foster's memory. Honorary chair Paul Derringer helped lead the event with gun club members Bob Ayer and Don Schultz supporting. Foster, a Batavia businessman from Williamsburg, died in a December 12 automobile crash near Georgetown.

Poor Health Blamed In Death Of Newtonsville Man

An 82 year old Newtonsville resident William O Reilly ended his life at his home on Lorado Pike with a shotgun blast. His widow Emma O Reilly survives along with one son and two daughters. The body was moved to Eichelberger funeral home in Blanchester.

Workshop Planned For PTA Officers

Mrs. Floyd Werner leads a Clermont County PTA Council workshop for officers and members on January 19 from 9 45 a m to 9 45 p m at the UB Church Batavia. Mrs Verne Davis of the SW District Ohio Congress of Parents and Teachers conducts the event. Clermont County Council will meet January 24 at 8 p m in Edenton with Judge Orville Halbisch speaking on Learn to Combat Hoodlumism.

Judge Installs New Association Heads

Milford Ohio new officers of the Clermont Peace Officers Association were installed Monday night with Henry Whitt as president John Wood re elected secretary Joseph Erwin as treasurer and Police Chief Burton Hodges of Williamsburg as sergeant at arms The installations were handled by Judge Orville Halbisch.

Three Ohio youths charged in Williamsburg incident

Three Russelville men Joseph Willingford Tom Belcher and Bobby Lanham aged 21 21 and 20 are held in Clermont County jail on charges tied to an alleged incident involving a 17-year-old mother and her year-old child. Bound over to the Grand Jury by Williamsburg Mayor C E Danbury the case centers a late night drive from Cincinnati Western Avenue to Sycamore Park New Hope and a group of hitch hikers with two companions. Police say the two other youths have prior records.

Dog license sales in Clermont County end January 20

Blythe Jones in the front hall of the courthouse at Batavia sold over 2044 dog licenses in recent weeks. The county announces residents may purchase the required licenses up to and including January 20 by going to the courthouse office.

Southwestern Ohio Press Club Formed in Five-County Area

A five-county newspaper group formed last Friday at the O8 Club near Georgetown, naming itself the Southwestern Ohio Press Club to include Adams Brown Clermont Clinton and Highland Counties. The group will address press freedom access to news sources and meets April 15 at the Highlander Restaurant Hillsboro with charter membership for those joining by that date.
