County Jail Holds No Prisoner as Grand Jury Opens
Batavia officials report the county jail is empty after a period without inmates. The grand jury session, the first for prosecutor Harry Britton and Sheriff Rapp, lasted about three days with five regular jurors absent and five women serving as jurors. One sealed indictment returned. Stella Weaver, visiting Cincinnati, was badly bruised after being struck by a car near Peeble's Corner. she is recovering at a relative’s home.

Inheritance Tax Pledges Boost for Ohio Revenue
Columbus reports the direct inheritance tax has generated 1 800 000 for the state with monthly gains. Judge John R Cassidy says the law could yield 3 000 000 to 6 000 000 annually.
