Batavia Ohio club members met at the schoolhouse auditorium for a 6:45 p.m. meeting with a banquet by Presbyterian women. James G. Stewart of Cincinnati spoke on citizen duties, urging loyalty enthusiasm and cooperation for the town and state. New members were elected, and a ten-point program for the coming year was outlined, including sidewalk work, streetlights, cemetery upkeep, yearly cleanups, and a homecoming event.

Batavia Tobacco Market Shows Strong Demand and Record Offerings
At Batavia on January 2 the tobacco market showed broad demand across all grades with total offerings of 54 363 pounds and no refusals. Averages ranged around 29 dollars, with Clara Fee of Felicity posting a crop average of 4.35 and local auctions noting improved receipts and strong market on all grades.

East Batavia Woman Dies After Months of Ill Health
A long time resident of East Batavia died Friday at home after months of poor health culminating in pneumonia. She raised five children. her son George and his wife lived with her. She was greatly esteemed, with funeral set for Sunday at 2 p.m. from the residence, burial in Union Cemetery.
