Splendid Fox Chase in Tate Township Opens Weekend

The third and final day of the Bethel Fox Chase drew many countryside enthusiasts despite the absence of Captain Lou Buerkle. Foxes, hounds, and riders filled Clover Creek hills from Reisinger to Reed places as Colonel John Luck and Captain Chilt Brannock led swift packs. Local sportsmen praised the hospitality and generous right of way across the countryside.

Bright Young Man Dies in Freight Yard Accident

Robert Anderson of Virginia was crushed between railroad cars while coupling at the local station. Coroner Gatch ruled accidental death. remains sent to Portsmouth after removal by Undertaker Moore. The incident followed a week of large church attendance and ongoing union gospel services next week.

Once a Slave Now Free Builds His Old Kentucky Home

Posey Robinson a well known colored man of the area died at his son Williams home in Cincinnati last Thursday in his sixty fifth year He was born a slave gained freedom in the Lincoln proclamation enlisted in a U S colored troops unit After the war he lived in Felicity then Batavia today his children including a son who became a teacher and later a revenue service appointee attended his funeral in Batavia The second item reports an attempted explosion at Kings Mills powder works near Lebanon 12000 pounds of powder prepared for grinding cylinders and primers placed with powder would have caused catastrophic destruction had the plan not been halted by timely discovery

John H. Fishback Stricken By Sudden Heart Trouble

John H. Fishback prominent real estate dealer was suddenly seized by a heart ailment Saturday while on the street. He collapsed in his office and lay unconscious for hours before doctors stabilized him and he began recovering. In Stonelick a local option election last Saturday saw the vets win by 78 votes.

Monroe Township Schools Report Highlights Attendance and Library Progress

The Monroe township schools report nine or ten institutions in good condition with teachers and pupils diligently pursuing study. Truancy will be prosecuted. November average daily attendance was 86 percent with 251 enrolled. Teachers and pupils are commended for progress in securing library books.

Tobacco Growers of Clermont Urged to Join Equity Pool

Clermont tobacco farmers have one more chance to join the American Society of Equity pool. A district board in Winchester, Kentucky found 58 percent of barley pledged, making contracts binding. The extension lasts until Saturday the 12th, with help urged by mail or telephone to H. W. Denniston Chile. About 900 acres in the southern county are pledged and 75 percent expected before the Winchester meeting on the 15th.

Appeal in Rich Case Chooses New Trial Path for Loveland Suit

In the Rich vs Loveland matter a new trial was denied and damages of 400 awarded to the plaintiff. The case will be appealed to the circuit court as decided by council. A transcript was ordered and funds approved for the cost of preparing the record.

The Amelia Woman's Club hosted a Saturday reception with Miss Jane Thomas as hostess. Decorated parlors and dining area complemented a three course luncheon. Attorneys Liable as Judge Rules in Cincinnati Court

In Judge J B Swing's court Cincinnati last week the judge held attorneys liable for wrong counsel. A building company lent $1000 on incumbrance free property later found to bear large first claims reducing the loan value. The loan company won judgment against the attorney's sureties for 1200 dollars and will sue the former attorney now in New Jersey.

Old fiddlers in Brown county organize a Georgetown event next week. Ticket sales fund prizes for contestants. Fiddler meetings draw large audiences and have become a popular local tradition.

Father’s support ordered in paternity case

In Vernon Lytle court last Saturday Eva Kellis sued Henry Stricker on a paternity charge. Stricker was ordered to pay Kellis $125 costs of suit and to give a $400 bond for the child’s support.
